The eleventh Century is to many thinkers and scholars the general contexts where the confrontation between Christianity and classical culture will be made more noticeable. Paradoxically, it’s in this Century where the consolidation of philosophy arose, specially the Philosophy of the Language. Its goal is to find philosophy in the language and keep investigating the relationship between thought, word and thing. The study of the Liberal Arts was a factor in this consolidation. This discipline contributed to encourage a critical thinking on the truths of faith, then, in conflict due to the advance of action for the investitures and the Nicolaitanism. This situation caused complex and contradictory attitudes of acceptance and rejection toward the dialectics depending on their use. However, the quarrel between dialecticians and anti-dialecticians couldn’t prevent the dialectic expansion.
