This article presents the question about the philosophical meaning of “transcend” (transcende-re) to God in Nicolás of Cusa ́s philosophical thought and the meaning of the methodological aspects of intellectual “ascent” (transcensus) proposed by the author in first book of De docta ignorantia. The article has focused (i) on Nicholas de Cusa's theological-philosophical speculation about the incomprehensibility of God and (ii) on the methodical use that the author proposes of geometric-mathematical figures. This framework allows (iii) to offer a critical point to the methodical proposal of the transsumptio in relation to the legitimacy of the last moment of cusanian ascent in axiom: ad incomprehensibilia per transcensum. Keywords: transcensus, Nicholas of Cusa, transsumptio, method.
