Agustín, defensor de Ticonio

Abstract

La figura de Ticonio ha suscitado no pocas perplejidades en el contexto de los estudios de hermenéutica bíblica y eclesiología. En este contexto, la relación de Agustín con Ticonio no es diferente, pues no es clara la naturaleza de su vínculo, ni las razones por las cuales el primero no sólo se sirvió de las propuestas del segundo, sino que llevó a cabo su defensa ante sus correligionarios. De este modo, el presente texto propone avanzar en una hipótesis acerca del lugar de la obra de Ticonio en el pensamiento de Agustín, así como constatar el carácter conciliador, sintetizador y crítico del Obispo de Hipona, especialmente en el contexto de la polémica con los miembros del partido de Donato

I The figure of Tyconius has created many perplexities in the context of the biblical herme-neutics and ecclesiology studies. In this context, Augustine's relationship with Tyconius is not different, since the nature of their relationship is not clear, neither the reasons why Agustin uses Tyconius' work nor why he carried out his defense against his co-religionists. In this way, the present article proposes to advance in a hypothesis about the place of the work of donates thinker in the thought of Augustine, as well as to verify the conciliatory, synthesizing and critical character of the Bishop of Hippo, especially in the context of the controversy with the members of Donato's party.
